Despite the travails around Your Party, there still remains a lot of energy on the left right now. On Saturday 6 June 2026 in Sheffield, the Connections network is hosting the first of a series of conventions to bring together socialist groups and activist organisations to discuss a way forward.
The convention, Connections: Where next for the Left?, which takes place at SADACCA (Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association), is shaping up to be an interesting event with 12 workshops taking place to enable attendees to develop the tools needed to be successful whether you are in Your Party, a nationally recognised party/organisation or a local independent group.
Connections was originally formed as an online discussion group early last autumn and according to the organisers “didn’t start out as an opposition group”. However, the well documented recent actions of The Many-dominated Your Party CEC have turned it into just that, hence the conference on 6 June.
Speaking about the convention, a Connections spokesperson said: “Despite the challenges we all know about, the left clearly wants to get together and be heard. That’s why the Connections network is hosting the first of a series of conventions to bring together socialist groups and activist organisations to discuss a way forward. Join us and other comrades actually doing the work in our communities to discuss that way forward.”
