Launched in May 2026, The Left Lane is an online news and comment platform that is focused on the organised left and other movements of resistance. Organised as a collective, we will be a critical friend to genuine grassroots movements and parties like Your Party, the Greens and others, chronicling progress and identifying key strategic issues that will influence the development of the new left.
As well as providing coverage of major news events, in a way that gets behind the headlines and makes our readers think, The Left Lane will also place them in context to their relationship to the ongoing development of the left in the UK, and further afield.
Through directly written articles and interviews, opinion pieces and debates, we will give voice to organisers in communities, workplaces and campaigns. We will be an expression of the diversity of talents within left politics and we will also be collaborative and collegiate in publishing comments and contributions from our community on The Left Lane.
The Left Lane is an initiative founded by a like-minded collective of activists and is led and guided by those who take part in its activities. We have no rich backers – nor would we ever seek them – and all our funding comes from those who support us, or have an interest, in what we do. You can donate to us on our fundraising page here.
As part of our commitment to the independent media sector and to media transparency, The Left Lane is seeking membership of the Independent Media Association and will also register with the independent media regulator Impress.
