We are always on the lookout for articles and opinion pieces for inclusion in The Left Lane. If you have an idea for an article or are interested in submitting something that you have already written, please email [email protected]
If you are pitching an idea for an article, all we require is around 50-75 words outlining the basic premise of your article and what it will cover. Before you submit or pitch an article however, please read our helpful “Dos and Don’ts for contributors” below.
DOs…
- Write clearly and concisely, avoiding use of any jargon or acronyms.
- Be cool – stay calm and respectful, even when writing about controversial issues.
- Be confident – you will win the debate by the power of your arguments and available evidence.
- Be original – try and set the agenda, not just respond to it.
- Be inspiring – we aim to enthuse, inspire and make our readers think.
- Speak from experience – your story matters and you can tell it best.
- Be generous – people can make mistakes without them needing to be cast into eternal damnation.
DON’Ts…
- Don’t personally abuse or insult people. We want contributions that are about the politics and not the personalities.
- Don’t be offensive – by including any racist, sexist, or homophobic comments or insults, or say anything discriminatory against disabled or transgender people.
- Don’t be careless – by making unsubstantiated or inaccurate claims.
- Try and avoid just giving an opinion or making an assertion – argue your point, justify it with relevant evidence from credible sources.
